Today, I had lunch with some coworkers. Little did I know that God had it all planned out before I knew it! The waiter was a young Hispanic man, that I saw at church one Sunday. When he came to our table, I asked him how he liked TRC. He said he liked it and wanted to go back, but his work schedule had changed and he is now working Sundays. I told him about our Hispanic service. I was blown away by his response. He told me he already knows the Hispanic culture and hangs out with them enough. He wants to get to know other people and learn "our church culture." He told me that he had been a bit put off while living in Mexico and attending church. He felt the priest was given too much attention and that people worshiped the priest more than Jesus. I told him all about Pastor Jeff and how he is just a regular kind of guy who loves God and wants to see people live life to the fullest. He is anxious to come back and see what TRC is all about. And I thought lunch was all about me, HAH! Lesson learned....no matter where you go, or what you may do, God wants you to complete HIS agenda first!
]]>We have been watching Jordyn's permanent teeth come in behind her baby teeth. She went to the dentist this morning to have 2 baby teeth pulled. The dentist came out and told me they were going to have to pull 4 instead and in a few months 2 more will likely be pulled! There is no room in her mouth for her permanent teeth to come in! Two hours later we left the tooth thief with a referral to the orthodontist and 4 little baby teeth. It is hard enough to watch a child pull a tooth that is loose, but to see four perfectly healthy teeth be yanked and then worn around her neck in a cute little tooth necklace like some trophy was awful! YUCK!! She is doing great, and can't wait for the tooth fairy to make a deposit.

Aloha! The Winter Pineapple Classic is a 5k run with obstacles along the course followed by a Hawaiian luau. The 5K course challenges teams to navigate a series of obstacles and physical challenges that participants will not know until race day. That's only part of the fun. All participants are invited to celebrate at the post-race Hawaiian luau. Thanks to NW Construction, we will turn an old airplane hangar in to an indoor beach complete with sand! We will round out our luau with roasted pig, vegetarian sides dishes prepared by the Kauai Family Restaurant, Hawaiian entertainment led by Aunty Manu, and a beer garden hosted by Georgetown Brewing Company. Bring your flip flops, beach chairs, and beach towels to enjoy the festivities! The event, designed for teams of two or four, is open to anyone aged 12 and over at any fitness level. If you need teammates, register as an individual and we'll assign you teammates. All proceeds go toward The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's mission to fund cancer research and assist patients and families fighting blood cancers I really want to do this race, but need a partner to sign up with me! In my career, I am paid salary based on years of experience and the number of credits earned. For example, I am on my eleventh year of teaching in Washington and hold a Master's Degree with an additional 38 credits. Next year, I will be at Master's with 45 credits. To move up on the "pay scale" cost me an enormous amount of money, only to earn a few thousand more each year. For example, it cost me $13,000 to get a Master's Degree and am only making a few thousand dollars more. I really want to learn more, and earn more! However, to do this will take money, time and commitment for a few years to come. I want to further myself in my career, but I am not sure I can finance it right now. I just pray that God will open the doors necessary to take this huge step. I just received my master's degree 8 years ago, and want to do it again. Another option is to get my PhD. For a lot more money and time, I could be Dr. McNew! Crazy to think about, but an option none the less. Decisions, decisions!

]]>I have found my new passion! HIKING!!! I have been on two hikes recently, and each one was a physical test to see how much more I can do since my Fibromyalgia has taken a back seat. Granted, I still have days I have to push through, but since feeling better I want to hike to a mountain top and proclaim His greatness! I have been physically held back for so long that once I started feeling better, I desired to go full throttle. My first physical test was hiking to Wallace Falls. The second was up to Heybrook Lookout. I can tell you each one was an exhilarating experience. I am not sure my 6 year old daughter would agree. Hiking up to Wallace Falls, I was really pushing myself; I had to talk her to the top as well. When we got back to the car and she told me, “Mommy, I am so proud of us! We made it to the top and all the way back to the car.” I too was proud, because I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel the next day. I felt so good and was empowered.... to do it again! I decided that my husband would join us and we would take a hike together to Heybrook Lookout. Wow! I had no clue it was all up hill, climbing 1000 ft. in elevation in such a short distance. We were all sweating hard as we ate our lunch atop the lookout. With both hikes, I really didn’t feel that bad. Six months ago, I wouldn’t have even thought about hiking let alone taking a walk. This is just a testimony that God heals and He wants to see me be who he has created me; a woman full of life and passion not one of sickness and hopelessness. Even though it is late in the season, I want to do a few more hikes before snow fall. Weather permitting; I want to hike to Bridal Veil Falls. I already have 3 people who want to join me! Are you up for it? I know I am!
